World Cup 2022 – Arsenal Looking Good

Check out this lively roundtable with Blackburn George, Byso, Ehab, Seebs and yours truly analyzing Arsenal’s Premier League prospects post-World Cup. We are generally optimistic that most of Arsenal’s 10 players representing their national teams are unlikely to be overworked and should return ready to sustain a Top-4 challenge.

Our greatest fear is Granit Xhaka picking up an injury as his national team is likely to go far in the tournament. He is arguably Arsenal’s most invaluable player and his absence post World Cup would be very damaging. Similar fears are expressed about Gabriel Jesus, as Brazil are tournament favorites, but he is not as integral to South Americans as is our Swiss international. We reckon Saka will be a regular starter under Southgate and, should England do the unlikely and go deep in the tournament, he is likely to burn-out and fade with the season as has happened previously. As for the other seven (7), we think their five weeks away from the Premier League should make them fresher and well rested.
