Late last season, immediately after Manchester City confirmed their signing of Erling Haarland was imminent, speculation became rife it would spark the departure of Gabriel Jesus to Arsenal, who are in need of a top-shelf striker. According to the rumor mill, the Gunners were in prime position because they were losing veteran Alexandre Lacazette as well as lingering uncertainty about the re-signing of incumbent striker Eddie Nketiah. Topping this providential alignment of stars, Gabriel would once again be linking-up with Mikel Arteta, his old-trainer and now Arsenal manager.
